During the twelve days until Christmas break, the King Street Chronicle will again present staff favorites from the holiday season. This eighth edition will not include eight maids-a-milking, but beloved Christmas songs, memories, recipes, movies, and crafts.

Recipe: Whipped Shortbread Cookies
Total time: 29 minutes
Quantity: 24 cookies
Ingredients:
One cup unsalted butter
One-half cup powdered sugar
One and one-half cups all-purpose flour
One-fourth cup cornstarch
One-fourth teaspoon salt
One teaspoon vanilla extract
Sprinkles
Steps:
1) Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and line cookie sheets with parchment paper or baking mats.
2) In a large bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until very fluffy and aerated (at least five minutes.)
3) Mix in the flour, cornstarch, salt, and vanilla extract.
4) Dust your hands with cornstarch, then form the dough into balls about two teaspoons to one tablespoon in size.
5) Place on the lined cookie sheets and press down the top of each cookie with the tines of a fork dipped in cornstarch. Add a few sprinkles to the top of each cookie.
6) Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, or until the tops look set.

Craft: Yarn Letters
Supplies:
Cardboard
Hot glue
Acrylic Yarn
Instructions:
1) Cut out desired letters from cardboard and then hot glue the start of colorful yarn so it is secure.
2) Wrap the cardboard with yarn until the entire letter is covered.
3) Put a dot of hot glue where the yarn ends to keep everything in place.
4) Make a loop of yarn and hot glue it on the backside of the ornament to hang.
