Christmas Tree Cookies

Ms. Ellen Spillane, Upper School Math Teacher, shared her holiday recipe for Christmas Tree Cookies.

Ingredients:

One cup butter
Three-fourths a cup of sugar
One egg
One teaspoon almond extract
One-fourth teaspoon salt
Two and one-fourth cups sifted all-purpose flour
One-fourth teaspoon baking powder
Green food coloring

Directions:

Cream butter and sugar well.  Beat in the egg and almond extract.
Gradually blend in dry ingredients.
Tint dough with a few drops of green food coloring.  Mix well.
Form cookies on ungreased cookie sheets.
Use a tree cookie-cutter to shape the cookies.
Bake for ten to 12 minutes.
Remove when crisp to cooling racks.
