As Convent of the Sacred Heart athletes slide into the spring sports season, Middle School math teacher, Ms. Kristen D’Alessandro, will step up to the plate as the new head coach of the varsity softball team.
“I am so excited to be coaching girls who really want to learn more about softball,” Coach D’Alessandro said. “I am excited to share my enthusiasm about the sport with the CSH community.”

Coach D’Alessandro was a former all-state catcher on the Watchung, New Jersey team. She also played Division I softball at Fairfield University for three years (2005-2008) as a right fielder.
Combining both her teaching skills and softball expertise, Coach D’Alessandro hopes to build a strong team by focusing on hitting fundamentals, throwing mechanics, base running techniques, infield and outfield play, and small ball strategies.
She plans on setting some small, realistic goals for the team and believes that improvement will come with hard work and dedication.
Senior softball co-captains Nicolette Brusco and Christina Monaco look forward to collaborating with their new coach in order to achieve their similar goals for the team.
“Coach D’Alessandro is dedicated and determined to help us have the best season yet,” Nicolette said.
The coach further hopes to use her past softball experiences in order to relate on a personal level to the girls.
“I have played softball all of my life,” Coach D’Alessandro said. “I have also had some incredible coaches of my own who have taught me how to become the best player I could be. I hope to do the same for my girls.”
