The Convent of the Sacred Heart winter sports teams open their season today. The captains talk about their excitement and expectations.
“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to be a captain now that the season has begun and I am ready to lead this team to another successful season,” junior basketball captain Colleen O’Neill said.
Senior Kayla Souza, the other basketball captain is excited for the the game versus Hotchkiss this weekend.
“We want to win and definitely have the same season as we did last year. We plan on working our hardest, beginning at our first practice and starting the season off strong. We’ll
do whatever it takes to end up at the championships again,” Kayla said.
Seniors Catherine Considine and Emily Molinelli, the two captains of the swimming and diving team are already focused on growing as one cohesive unit.
“I want to try to make a very close team because I remember my first year on the swimming team, we weren’t that close,” Emily said. “I know when we are bonded as a team together, we do better.”
Though the squash team has only one captain, junior Margot McCloskey is confident in her ability to help bring her team to be the best they can be.
“As a captain it’s not about being the best player,” Margot said. “It’s about making your team the best it can be.”
