Convent of the Sacred Heart Upper School students arrived at school this week decked out in patriotic colors, tropical attire, wacky costumes, outfits from past decades, and boys’ clothing. Students displayed their school pride through participating in the Spirit Week tradition for the first time in five years.
Each day of the week captured a different theme, which included ‘Merica Monday, Tropical Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and Frat Friday.
Students created an Instragram account for the Upper School community to share pictures from the week. All four grades participated in this component of Spirit Week.
“I really felt like we connected as an Upper School through the themed days and the Spirit Week Instagram because everyone was given an opportunity to contribute. I liked seeing people express themselves through their fashion choices,” junior and Instagram fashion blogger Hanna Sheehan said.
The Student Council planned a different game each day that related to the theme. For example, Student Council members hid toothpick flags around the school and gave students the opportunity to earn points for the green and white teams by retrieving these objects Monday. Tuesday’s game was limbo, Wednesday’s event was a piñata, and Friday’s activity was a dodgeball game.

The return of Spirit Week to the Upper School gave students an opportunity to use their creativity and show their support for the community.
“I think it was a really successful week and I think people had a lot of fun coordinating outfits. It generated a lot of laughs and built community, and I think everyone had fun with it,” Student Body President and senior Grace Passannante said.
