During the twelve days until Christmas break, the King Street Chronicle will again present staff favorites from the holiday season. This fourth edition will not include four calling-birds, but beloved Christmas songs, memories, recipes, movies, and crafts.

“One of my favorite Christmas memories is something that I still do today. I have two siblings and growing up, the three of us would look forward to every Christmas Eve because we received an early gift from my dad where he gave us PJs to wake up in for Christmas morning. So, now that I have children, I make it a big deal and I buy them Christmas PJs and they get so excited to see which PJs we picked out for them. This year they are really looking forward to it. This tradition is something I hope that they [my kids] will pass on to their kids when they get older.”
Recipe:
Peanut Butter Christmas Cookies
Ingredients:
One-half cup of softened butter (One stick)
One-half cup of granulated sugar
One-half cup of packed brown sugar
One-third cup of peanut butter
One egg
One-half tablespoon of vanilla extract
One and three-quarters cup of all-purpose flour
One teaspoon of baking soda
Nonpareil Christmas sprinkles
Peppermint Hershey’s kisses
Steps:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with the sugars.
Now mix in peanut butter, egg, and vanilla.
Then mix in the flour and baking soda.
Mix in a few tablespoons of sprinkles, scoop out the dough with a tablespoon, and roll it into a ball.
Bake for ten minutes.
Let the cookies cool for about five minutes and then place an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss into the top of each cookie and let your cookies cool completely.
