Uniquely strong but better together

The school community recognizes the need for individuality while working together.

As members of the Class of 2023 and Co-Editors-in-Chief of the King Street Chronicle, we are thankful for the opportunity to inform the Sacred Heart Greenwich community of relevant events and voice our opinions alongside our fellow staff members.  With the student body fully united after three years, we are committed to helping new and returning journalists become dynamic and innovative thinkers so the newspaper can continue to flourish.  Before we depart from King Street, we hope to champion a Newsroom environment in which students can grow from each others’ distinct perspectives and experiences.

As she welcomed students and faculty in the Lennie and John de Csepel Theater, senior and Executive Board President Olivia Caponiti, announced this academic year’s theme: Better Together.  She emphasized the interdependence of community members’ distinct talents for the school to prosper.

As Executive Board President, Olivia Caponiti ’23 hopes to establish a sense of common purpose within the Sacred Heart Greenwich community.  Ana López del Punta ’23.

“I believe that every single person has something to offer to each other and that, together, we can create the best year possible,” Olivia said.  “As I was choosing my theme for the year, I came across a well-known proverb that goes, ‘if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. We have to go far.’  I believe that we have to go far in everything we do this year on King Street.  We can push each other, teach each other, and make each other better every day.”

In the spirit of collaboration and unity, we pledge to listen respectfully to distinct perspectives to become more open-minded and educated individuals.  We will endeavor to foster camaraderie within the Newsroom.  Like a machine needs all of its parts to function efficiently, so too does the paper require staff members to write thought-provoking and inspiring articles while staying true to their voice.

In accordance with Goal Three of the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria, “a social awareness which impels to action,” we are committed to journalistic integrity.  We will strive to provide our readers with reliable and unbiased news so that they can form their own viewpoints.  Not only do we hope to inform our community, but also foster empathy and a willingness to empower change.
