Why did you decide to come to Sacred Heart Greenwich as a new Athletic Trainer this year?
“I grew up in Catholic schools, attending Mount Saint Michael in the Bronx for high school. Being back at a Catholic institution feels natural to me. While interviewing, it became apparent that my morals and ethics aligned with what Sacred Heart is instilling in their community. My previous job was at Columbia University as an Athletic Trainer, and I gained valuable experience there. Sacred Heart was the perfect transition from the college setting into a smaller tight-knit community where I could play a bigger role. Coming to Sacred Heart, I still get to work at an amazing facility with elite student-athletes. Sacred Heart gave me the opportunity to be on the sidelines and use my experience to prepare our students for their journey to college and life.”
What is your favorite part of working as an Athletic Trainer?
“The best part about being an Athletic Trainer is the blend of Athletics and Health Care. One minute I could be stopping a nosebleed during an FAA championship game and then be doing functional movements such as passing drills with a student-athlete returning from a concussion the next. Athletic Training gave me valuable skills and certifications such as CPR, AED, and Life Support training. My job is exciting, rewarding, and fun.”
What is your favorite thing about the Sacred Heart school community?
“My favorite part about the Sacred Heart Greenwich school community is the students. Many of the students come in during lunch or a free period to get treatment for an injury, to do recovery, or even just to hang with friends. It is great to see that they use the training room as a safe space where they feel comfortable and welcomed. This is not common due to the negative energy and anxiety associated with injuries or rehabilitation. I’m proud to be a part of this welcoming environment along with Mrs. Christina Cauliffe and the rest of our Athletics Department.”
