Why did you decide to become a member of the Perspectives Art and Literary Magazine?
“I joined Perspectives because I had always enjoyed and loved writing and art since I was young, so when I found out that Perspectives consisted of both art and writing I thought it was a good idea to join. Another reason that I joined was that it was all student-led, which I found so cool. All the art, the writing, and the production of the magazine are all made by students, which always amazes me every time we receive new work.”
What role do you have in Perspectives?
“I am sort of like a ‘media manager’ for Perspectives (I help come up with prompts for our Instagram and help with announcements made on our social media account) and I help choose material that goes into the magazine. It is so fun to see what people create and come up with, and this led me to have an idea of creating an Instagram for Perspectives. The Instagram posts are full of different prompts (and announcements) for art, writing, and now music to keep students creative and have fun with literature and different forms of art. These prompts are also generated by students on the Perspectives team. Along with managing the Instagram, I help in choosing what could go into the magazine itself, so reading or reviewing the artwork created. I love when we talk about different types of works that could make it into the magazine because it brings everyone together to make a beautiful collection of wonderful work.”
How do you believe Perspectives impacts the Sacred Heart Greenwich community?
“I think that Perspectives impacts the Sacred Heart community tremendously because there are so many ways to be creative and this is just the perfect way for people to share their wonderful talents and love for art and literature. I think that it is also great for students in terms of practicing sharing their wonderful works with others because putting yourself out there is always a difficult thing to do. Perspectives is an excellent way to put yourself out there and share a story that you have by making something original and beautiful.”
