What type of community service did you do on the New Orleans Service Trip?
“During my time in New Orleans, we engaged in various types of service through the program we partnered with. For instance, we distributed bags filled with sandwiches, granola bars, chips, and water to homeless individuals in the French Quarter and under bridges near our program site. Additionally, we worked together to paint a bathroom during the program, which was super fun and rewarding. Lastly, we prepared hot meals for those in need, set up tables, served plates, and cleared them once we finished our meals.”
Which part of the trip was the most memorable?
“The most memorable aspect of the trip was distributing the bags of food and witnessing the heartfelt gratitude and joy expressed by recipients in response to what I thought seemed like such a small gesture.”
What was the most important thing you took away from doing the service?
“The most significant takeaway from my service experience was a profound sense of gratitude. As the trip concluded, I found myself more grounded and appreciative of the basic necessities, having a roof over my head and access to three meals a day, that I often take for granted.”
