What does SoulFest celebrate?
“SoulFest is a luncheon dedicated to celebrating Black History Month, specifically highlighting the diverse cultures that contribute to the rich tapestry of Black heritage. It underscores the profound impact that tradition and food has on the Black community, encouraging awareness, appreciation, and unity.”
Why did you decide to bring SoulFest to Sacred Heart Greenwich?
“I chose to bring SoulFest to Sacred Heart to create an inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone to honor Black History Month. When I came up with this idea, my initial thought was to plan something that everyone in the community could enjoy, no matter the cultural background one comes from. I aimed to introduce a new and unique experience while fostering community unity through food, mirroring the shared enjoyment we experience during family meals at home.”
How does SoulFest showcase different cultures?
“SoulFest brings attention to the traditions of different cultures, by highlighting popular cultural dishes from various African-American and West-Indian nations. Through this celebration, I sought to emphasize the rich cultural heritage that our Sacred Heart community brings to the table. SoulFest serves as a way to honor and appreciate the uniqueness of various traditions, fostering a deeper understanding and connection among us all.”
