To honor April as National Poetry Month, this episode of King Street Conversations discusses women in literature who used the written word as a form of advocacy. We explored the works of three female writers, each from a different period, and how their publications impacted the lives of women globally. First, we spoke with Mrs. Sarah Martin, Upper School English Teacher and English Department Co-Chair, and explored the works of early feminist Ms. Louisa May Alcott. Next, we talked with senior Ana Patricio and analyzed modernist Ms. Virginia Woolf’s novels and essays. Lastly, we sat down with senior Claire Maher to discuss Ms. Margaret Atwood’s effect on second wave feminism.
