What inspired you to become a candidate of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (RSCJ)?
“[My] love of God is what truly inspired me to continue my journey of following Jesus within the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through a profound experience of God’s love for me, I entered a two and a half year discernment process. During this time I came to realize that neither fulfilling my potential for my own sake nor my privilege brought true fulfillment. As I prayed, reflected, and lived intentionally, the path toward a vowed religious life within the Society of the Sacred Heart became clear. [It is] a path I believe holds great promise. I am grateful to be at Sacred Heart Greenwich for my candidate year. It is a blessing to be amongst all of you as I continue to discern how I am uniquely called to reveal God’s love in the world.”
How has attending Upper school classes shaped your experience thus far?
“I am currently taking Ethics and Spanish, and I also join Ms. Considine and Sra. Garcia’s sophomore advisory whenever possible. Engaging with subjects I have not studied in years or at all is a powerful reminder that there is always something to learn. It also reminds me of the vulnerability required to pursue a worthwhile education. Stepping outside of my comfort zone in these classes gives me an opportunity to practice and model the values we strive to instill in Sacred Heart graduates: humility, authenticity, compassion, curiosity, and commitment to lifelong learning.”
Working as an intern for Campus Ministry and Student Leadership, what do you hope to accomplish this year?
“My prayer is that, through my example and work, I may inspire children and educators at all levels to open their hearts up to God’s deep and profound love for them. I hope to facilitate the work of the [Holy] Spirit in this process. This looks like offering opportunities to grow in relationship with self, others, and God through retreats, chapels, student leadership lessons, and prayer groups such as Lectio Divina and the Rosary. Additionally, I strive to be a joyful, calm presence in the hallway and classroom.”
