What is your role in helping orchestrate the Christmas Concert?
“I prepare my choirs for the performance and help the Madeleines, Nightingales, A Ca-Bellas, and Madrigals. I also help organize a dress rehearsal schedule and do a lot of behind the scenes things, such as ordering food for the performers’ dinner and reception food, making sure girls who need black dresses are outfitted, reserving rooms, and working on creating a printed program. There is a lot of coordination and collaboration between all of the performing arts teachers.”
What is your favorite part about seeing the concert come all together?
“There is a lot of energy in the air during the concert, and it starts to really feel like Christmas. I love seeing all of the hard work that the girls put into their songs come together for this magical night.”
How do you think that the Christmas Concert brings the community together with holiday spirit?
“Who doesn’t like Christmas and Christmas music? The Madrigals love singing “Carol of the Bells” and can not wait to sing it each year. I have students down to fifth grade who are always asking me about Carol of the Bells and some of them are so excited that they will be able to sing it when they are in the Madrigals one day. It is just one of those songs that makes everyone happy. The girls also love singing the closing song “Christmas in About Three Minutes.” It’s a combination of several Christmas carols and a lot of fun to sing. I love hearing all of the choirs sing this piece together. It’s a great way of uniting all of the girls to create something beautiful while embracing the joy of Christmas.”
