For this edition of Guide to Greenwich, I visited The Granola Bar, CFCF Coffee, and Tazza to determine which restaurant sold the best avocado toast in and around Greenwich, Connecticut. I judged each meal based on taste, price, and proximity to Sacred Heart Greenwich.
The Granola Bar

The first café I visited was The Granola Bar, located on Greenwich Avenue. There are various locations in Connecticut and New York, including in Fairfield, Westport, Stamford, Darien, and Rye. The closest location to Sacred Heart is the one I visited, which is a 14-minute drive from campus. When I arrived, I went to the register to place my order, which cost $9.00. There were three options, the classic, signature, and summer avocado toast. They were all similar, except the summer toast included lemon zest, grated egg, and salsa macha. The main difference between the signature and classic toast was the choice of bread. I went with the classic avocado toast on multi-grain bread, which took about 15 minutes to prepare. I decided to eat it there since there was an open table. The café’s atmosphere was notable for its spaciousness and earthy decor.
The perfectly toasted bread had fresh avocado and micro-greens on top. However, the ratio of avocado to bread was unequal, as there was too much avocado mash. The large amount of avocado made the toast fall apart, leaving a mess. It was a filling portion. However, the price was unreasonable for the size. After finishing my meal, I concluded that it was nothing special and a bit underwhelming. The toast might have been more enjoyable if I added an egg or an additional topping, but that would have raised the price even more.

CFCF Coffee
Next, I walked down Greenwich Avenue to CFCF Coffee, which is also a 14-minute drive from campus. The beautiful atmosphere reminded me of a café in France or Italy. This location had a relatively large interior and many tables for seating. CFCF has an additional location in Greenwich, as well as one in Riverside, Connecticut. The avocado toast included hummus, toasted sunflower seeds, and crushed red pepper. I chose multigrain bread from a selection of ciabatta, multigrain, or a wrap. My toast took about ten to 12 minutes to prepare and cost $13.99.
CFCF Coffee’s toast had sliced avocados rather than avocado mash. I preferred the sliced avocado because it provided a silky, fresh bite. Additionally, this preparation allowed me to enjoy the toast without it falling apart. The hummus and sunflower seeds added a tasty flavor and crunch. However, the bread was slightly under-toasted for my preference, and I would have liked more salt for a more pronounced taste.
Tazza
Lastly, I visited Tazza, a small café located in Armonk, New York. The drive was around 15 minutes from Sacred Heart. Tazza has several more locations in New York, including in Katonah and Thornwood. Their avocado toast came with feta cheese, red pepper, and grape tomatoes, served on seven-grain bread. Tazza’s toast cost $11.50, with the option to add an over-easy or fried egg for an extra charge. I received my order within ten minutes. The space was rather small and packed, so I ate my avocado toast elsewhere.

The avocado mash was incredibly fresh with hints of lemon. The tomatoes and feta were great additions, enhancing the flavor and making the toast more filling. The bread was my favorite part, as it was fluffy, healthy, and toasted to perfection. Although this toast was more expensive than The Granola Bar’s, it was worth the extra $2.50.
Winner
After visiting the three locations, I concluded that Tazza sells the best avocado toast. While The Granola Bar and CFCF Coffee’s toasts offers flavor, Tazza’s tastes the best, is the most freshly made, and has a reasonable price. In addition, it is only 15 minutes away from campus and provides parking both on the street and in a parking lot. Tazza’s avocado toast is definitely not one to miss.
