As a skilled filmmaker behind the camera, what has it been like stepping into the spotlight as a host for the 2025 Sacred Heart Greenwich Film Festival?
“Stepping into the spotlight as a host has been a fun but challenging shift from what I’m used to behind the camera. Collaborating with the other hosts has created a strong sense of community as we’ve supported each other, shared ideas, and brought out the best in one another. It’s exciting to be part of something so collaborative, where each person’s energy and creativity shape the final product. Being a host has not only pushed me to grow, but also made me feel more connected to our school community and the spirit behind the Film Festival.”
What inspired the Film Festival’s “Missing in Action!” theme?
“At the beginning of the year, each host had the chance to propose a theme, and the idea of a mystery, sparked by the game Clue, quickly stood out as a favorite. We were excited by the creative storytelling opportunities it offered, especially the chance to build suspense and engage the audience. The theme also gave us a fun way to weave in familiar parts of our Sacred Heart community, from well-known teachers to long-standing traditions.”
Where does your passion for film come from, and how has it grown over time?
“As a dancer, what I love more than anything is storytelling through movement. In filmmaking, I have discovered a new type of movement: the motion of the camera. I love showing different perspectives through the camera lens and integrating shots to develop a scene. I’m drawn to how film allows for unique perspectives and emotional depth. My experience in dance continues to shape my cinematic vision, helping me craft nuanced, expressive stories that move people, not just emotionally, but through the artful movement of the lens itself.”
