Located in the heart of Westport, Connecticut, The Granola Bar is the ideal place for a casual lunch or a more formal Sunday brunch. From the personalized yogurt and granola bowls to the Nutella latte served in a mason jar, guests at this modern café often find themselves ordering many different dishes.
Launched by two Westport mothers, Mrs. Julie Levitt and Mrs. Dana Noorily, The Granola Bar has become a favorite local coffee shop that offers healthy and clean food options. These two women were initially successful with their creation of “Oats Granola,” which is offered in four different flavors including cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla almond, and toasted coconut, according to patch.com. Inspired by the popularity of “Oats Granola,” these two women were eager to take their business to the next level according to ctbites.com.
“My business partner and I were looking for a place to eat that was elevated, delicious, and had a cool vibe, which served healthy and yummy food in a cozy environment,” Mrs. Julie Levitt said. “We would go to New York City to get inspired and when we came back [to Westport] we felt that the local places weren’t as interesting and comfortable.”
The Granola Bar opened in 2013 and has not only become a popular spot for Westport residents, but has also gained many new customers among Convent of the Sacred Heart students.
The menu features a wide array of innovative smoothies and coffee options, the most popular of which are the Nutella latte, and the Shrek smoothie, which contains spinach, kale, banana, apple, almond butter, and almond milk.
In addition, diners can try three different varieties of the founders’ signature “Oats Granola,” served with yogurt and fruit, according to ctbites.com. The avocado toast, and the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich are the two most popular dishes at The Granola Bar, according to Mrs. Levitt.
“The Granola Bar is a great place to go for brunch. There are so many great options on the menu, so we ended up ordering several dishes to share. The homemade granola and avocado toast topped it all,” junior Marion Murphy said.
The Granola Bar also has a refrigerator called the Lunch Box, which is stocked with several lunch and dinner options for customers to grab on the go. High school students often stop by in the morning for a smoothie, and pick up lunch from the refrigerator at the same time, according to Mrs. Levitt.
The Granola Bar is releasing a new menu November 11, which features more options geared towards fall and winter, including unique grilled cheeses and salads.
In line with its innovative and modern approach, The Granola Bar has visions of expansion in the future. They plan to open a location in Greenwich in early 2016.
“Our hope is to do really well with our restaurants and bring innovative, modern, and great food to these towns. Our hope is that people will find it delicious and come back again and again,” Mrs. Levitt said.
