Bárbara Martinez, an accomplished Flamenco dancer and singer, and her colleagues clapped and tapped across stage in The Lennie de Csepel Theater March 7, in celebration of the Spanish culture during Convent of the Sacred Hearts 3rd annual World Languages Week. Ms. Martinez not only demonstrated traditional Flamenco dancing and shared its deep history, but also informed students about Flamenco palmas, or clapping and the technique behind using castañuelas, or castanets. After the show, Sacred Heart students joined the performers on stage for a lesson in Flamenco dancing.
