A musical journey through Black history
To honor Black History Month, King Street Conversations discussed music as a form of Black resistance. We explored musical movements of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and their correlation with Black history and individual empowerment. We spoke with Ms. Samantha McCoy, Middle School Assistant Head for Curriculum and Professional Learning and Middle School History Teacher, juniors Ila David and Genesis Grey, and Mr. Sean Lowery, Director of the Upper and Middle School Orchestra and Upper School Musical Director, to examine how music can provide insight on culture.
