Nearly ten years after her departure from King Street, alumna Ms. Bianca Chiappelloni ’14 reflected on the impact that Sacred Heart Greenwich had on her higher education and current accomplishments in the legal field. Ms. Chiappelloni works in a traditionally male-dominated field as an attorney. She applies the leadership skills she gained during her time at Sacred Heart to make an impact on a daily basis.
Throughout her seven years as a Sacred Heart student, she took on numerous leadership roles, including captain of the varsity volleyball team, Video Content Editor of the King Street Chronicle, and executive producer of Today From the Heart. Within her Sacred Heart education, Ms. Chiappelloni was able to explore her interests and grow as a leader. Faith was an integral part of her time at Sacred Heart, as she served as a Eucharistic Minister and went on the pilgrimage to Lourdes, France five times during summers in Upper School and college. Ms. Chiappelloni discussed how the multitude of opportunities offered as a student continue to inspire her beyond her years in the Upper School.
“At this school, I was fortunate to not second guess what interested me or have anxiety about what others might think,” Ms. Chiappelloni said. “Because of this, I rarely thought about how some fields have fewer women until I found myself in one.”
Following her graduation from Sacred Heart in 2014, Ms. Chiappelloni double-majored in Global Politics and Business Administration at Washington and Lee University. She then attended Boston University School of Law, spending her third year abroad in Madrid, Spain as a student at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE). In 2021, Ms. Chiappelloni passed the New York State Bar Exam. She now works in New York City at a global law firm as a private equity associate. Looking back on her years as a student, Ms. Chiappelloni reflected on the confidence she gained through her Sacred Heart experience.
“At Sacred Heart, we see women thrive across all subjects, all types of athletic feats, and in all other intellectual and artistic expressions which this school so holistically encourages,” Ms. Chiappelloni said. “I encourage you to please pursue whatever your passion might be, despite any historical barrier, because we are fortunate to live in a time where we truly can be the change.”
In her career, Ms. Chiappelloni is often the only if not one of few women working on her teams, and skills developed at Sacred Heart continue to support her. Ms. Chiappelloni’s Sacred Heart experience provides the foundation for her work in the legal field as she finds the courage to speak up and share her voice.
“We have been blessed to have a Sacred Heart education shape our lives,” Ms. Chiappelloni said. “And with that, you have what you need to lead a rewarding life at college and beyond–you know how to express your thoughts and beliefs, you have the ability and right to pursue whatever it is you are drawn to, and you have Jesus to turn to as a friend and as an example.”
