Each April, National Poetry Month offers an opportunity to recognize the enduring significance of poetry in shaping human thought, culture, and connection. This episode examines how poetry serves as a lens for examining identity, reflecting on shared experiences, and cultivating a deeper sense of belonging within communities. I spoke with Dr. Cristina Baptista, Upper School English Teacher and Committee on Community and Belonging Chair, and Mr. Luke Woodard, Upper School English Teacher, about the continued relevance of poetic expression and its capacity to inspire introspection, dialogue, and change in an ever-evolving world.

Thank you, Sofia, for letting me ramble on and on…and on!… about poetry! This was a fun and thoughtful interview and I loved hearing Mr. Woodard’s remarks and expertise, too! Perhaps we’ll inspire some poetic reinvention in our community’s writers!
