In this episode of King Street Conversations, we explored the mission of the Stable Friendships Foundation, an organization committed to supporting individuals with special needs through a holistic and evidence-based approach. The primary method of therapy that is central to Stable Friendships is hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is the combination of speech, physical, and occupational therapy with the movement of Stable Friendships’ horses to improve the health and lives of individuals with special needs, according to stablefriendshipsfoundation.org. Eleanor Kelleher ’28 and Ruby Garten ’28, two dedicated student volunteers at Stable Friendships, joined us to talk about their experiences while volunteering with the foundation and their hopes for the future of this organization in collaboration with Sacred Heart Greenwich. We also sat down with Co-Founder and Sacred Heart alumna, Ms. Jessica Falco ’05, who shared the inspiration behind founding Stable Friendships and her vision of incorporating hippotherapy into her work. Ms. Falco also reflected on how her Sacred Heart education provided the foundation, confidence, and leadership skills she needed to create a mission-driven organization.
