Recipe: Snowman Cake Pops

Total Time: One hour and 40 minutes
Quantity: 19 cake pops
Ingredients:
- One box vanilla cake mix
- One-third cup vanilla icing
- One bag white candy melts
- Mini chocolate chips for the eyes and buttons
- Orange sprinkles or orange candy melts for the nose
- Cake pop sticks
Steps:
- Start by preparing your cake batter according to package directions. Pour the batter into two greased eight-by-eight-inch round cake dishes and bake in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely, then crumble it with a fork in a large bowl. Then, stir the frosting into the crumbled cake.
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth balls. Aim for two different sizes to create the snowman head and body. Freeze balls for 20 minutes or until firm.
- Melt the white candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Dip cake pop sticks into the melted chocolate, then stick into the small frozen cake ball. Dip cake pop sticks into the chocolate again, then add the larger ball to make a snowman shape.
- Freeze again for ten minutes.
- Dip each snowman into the white chocolate, making sure they are fully coated. Then allow excess chocolate to drip off.
- While the chocolate is still wet, attach mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons and an orange sprinkle for the nose.
- Let the chocolate set for ten to 15 minutes and enjoy.

Craft: Candy Cane Heart Ornaments

Supplies:
- 16-20 regular-size candy canes and/or 12 mini candy canes
- Hot glue or craft glue
- Red ribbon, cut into five-inch lengths
- Red or white waxed twine
Instructions:
- Place two candy canes facing each other to create a heart shape. Use the hot glue or craft glue to attach candy canes where they touch. Repeat with the remaining candy canes to create ten regular candy cane hearts or six mini candy cane hearts.
- To make ornaments, thread the ribbon between each candy cane heart or glue to the center to hang. Tie ribbon into a loop or seal with glue.
- To make a wreath, arrange hearts side by side to form a circle, then glue the straight sides of the hearts together where they touch. Tie a ribbon into a loop at the top of the wreath or seal with glue. Allow glue to fully dry. Use waxed twine to hang wreaths (from candy canes) and ornaments (from ribbon loops).
Memory: Maggie Condron ’27

“My favorite Christmas memory is not one single moment, but a tradition that happens every year and connects me to the experiences that shape who I am. When we begin to set up our Christmas tree every year, my family and I unpack the ornaments we have collected since birth and place them on the tree, reminding us of funny and cherished memories of our lives.”
