Jarring gifts
This Christmas give thoughtful ‘Do It Yourself’ (DIY) gifts in mason jars. These three simple recipes are practical and decorative. Convent of the Sacred Heart Upper School students can use these as gifts for advisory secret santa celebrations or white elephant games that take place before the holidays.
Lime and peppermint foot soak
2 cups of Epsom salts
1/2 cup baking soda and zest of one lime in a large bowl
3-4 drops of lime essential oil
3-4 drops of peppermint extract.
(optional, you could add just a drop of green food coloring if you’d like)
Pour the mixture into a jar, and use within a few weeks.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Quick Bread
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips
For recipient:
Beat 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, 2 large eggs, and 1/4 cup melted butter.
Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients just until evenly moistened (batter will be lumpy).
Scrape into a buttered and floured 9- by 5-inch loaf pan , and bake in a 350° oven about 50 minutes.

Raspberry Coconut Sugar Lip Scrub
1 cup of brown sugar
3 teaspoons of olive/coconut oil
1 teaspoon of honey
1-3 drops of raspberry extract
1-3 drops of food coloring
Use as needed
