Humans of Sacred Heart – Cassidy Willie-Lawes ’20

Why do you think it is important to celebrate International Women’s Day?
“I think it is important that we acknowledge International Women’s Day, especially at an all-girls school, to highlight all the strides women have taken to become equal in society. I also think that it is very important that the world remembers and takes time to reflect on all the obstacles women have had to overcome in society.”
What woman in history do you think exemplifies the values of International Women’s Day?
“I think that Susan B. Anthony is the perfect example of a woman in history who exemplifies the values of International Women’s Day. As an American social reformer and women’s rights activist, Susan B. Anthony paved the way for women’s voting rights. Without women like her, women would not be able to have the freedoms they do today.”
