Sacred Heart Greenwich’s varsity swim team raced their way to senior day Friday, February 9 against School of the Holy Child.

This year, the team graduated three seniors: Bridget Murphy, Kalyna Carroll, and Caleigh Pope. Bridget looks forward to competing in her first Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Championship Saturday, February 24, as well as the New England Championship March 3 and 4. Kalyna received the honor of All-FAA swimmer during her sophomore and junior years. To receive All-FAA honors, a swimmer must get first, second, or third in the league during an individual event at the championship meet, or be on a relay team that comes in first or second in the league. In addition, Kalyna earned the All-New England honors in the 50-meter freestyle as a junior and was a member of the relay team that set the Sacred Heart record for the 200-meter freestyle relay in 2016. For New England honors, the league combines the top 20 times of swimmers in each event at the championship meet. Caleigh also received All-FAA honors in her junior year and earned All-FAA honorable mention during her sophomore year.

Collectively, Kalyna and Caleigh have set three different pool records in relays in the last four years. Both athletes hope to continue their swimming careers at Division III swimming programs next year. To celebrate senior day, the underclassmen wrote speeches for the seniors and made a personalized ice cream cake decorated with a picture of the three seniors.
