Examining global issues amidst the coronavirus pandemic

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected and international conflicts continue, the importance of global citizenship is rising exponentially.  Pertinent foreign issues include a humanitarian crisis in Yemen, a presidential stalemate in Venezuela, the Palestinian Refugee Crisis, turmoil in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, and the Chinese government’s oppression of Uyghur Muslims.  The coronavirus pandemic led to an unforeseen development in international affairs as new public health regulations, including national lockdowns and quarantine requirements, severely impacted the immigration and refugee systems, forcing many persecuted individuals to remain in unsafe conditions.
