The Women in Finance club seeks to prepare students for careers in a male-dominated field.

Women in Finance Club – Megan Maloney ’22 and Jessica Thompson ’22

Seniors Jessica Thompson and Megan Maloney launched the Women in Finance Club at Sacred Heart this year.  The club intends to teach young women about business through public, personal, corporate, and private finance.  Through discourse and question-and-answer sessions, Jessica and Megan aim to create a welcoming environment for students interested in finance and empower them to pursue this career in the future.

The club has already received so much support from Mrs. Vasu and our members,” Megan said.  “I am very optimistic that this club will become even bigger and better once I am gone.”

Although this is their last year at Sacred Heart, Jessica and Megan will encourage members to continue the Women in Finance Club.  They started this club to inspire younger students in the Upper School to defy gender expectations by exploring a male-dominated field.

Not only is finance important to learn, but it is an area in which women are underrepresented as it is a stereotypically male-dominated course of study,” Megan said.  “However, I want to encourage girls to overcome these gender norms and help equip my club members to do so.”
