Why did you choose to help out at Convent of the Sacred Heart’s Come Home for Christmas event?
“I chose to help out at Sacred Heart’s Come Home for Christmas event because I love the Christmas season, and this event is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.”
How did you help?
“This year at Come Home for Christmas, I worked in the gingerbread house workshop, providing children and adults with candy as well as making sure that each table was clean for the next group to start work on their houses. The elves were running around for a lot of the day, trying to wipe icing off of tables, monitor the candy output, and provide the children with aprons. It was hard work, and we were all exhausted by the end of the day.”
Have you participated before?
“This was my third year helping out with the Come Home for Christmas event. All three years, I have worked in the gingerbread workshop, and last year I also helped in Santa’s Workshop, taking children around the store and helping them buy gifts for their families.”
What was your favorite part about this year’s event?
“My favorite part of the event, aside from seeing some of the amazing gingerbread houses some people create (several families bring their own candy to the workshop to make the best possible houses), is getting to see so many kids in the Christmas spirit. Many are dressed up in red and green outfits (one father won the best outfit award for his candy cane pants) and they are all so happy to be spending time with their families during the Christmas season.”
