During the twelve days until Christmas break, the King Street Chronicle will again present staff favorites from the holiday season. This ninth edition will not include nine ladies dancing, but beloved Christmas songs, recipes, movies, crafts, and festive wear.

Recipe:
Sugar Cookie M&M Bars
Ingredients:
- One pouch of sugar cookie mix
- One-half cup of butter, softened
- One egg
- One cup of M&Ms
- One cup of white vanilla baking chips
Steps:

Heat oven to 350°F. Spray the bottom of a 13-by-nine-inch pan with cooking spray.

In large bowl, mix cookie mix, butter, and egg with spoon until soft dough forms. Stir in a half cup of the candies and the white vanilla baking chips. Press dough in bottom of pan. Sprinkle remaining candies over top.

Bake 22 to 24 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on cooling rack, about one hour. Cut into six rows by four rows. Store in airtight container.
Movie: Deck the Halls
“In the movie, Buddy Hall and his family moves across the street from the Finch’s. He comes up with the idea of making his house bright enough to be seen from outer space. All the lights and traffic begin to aggravate Steve Finch. He makes an attempt to sabotage Buddy’s lights, but his attempt isn’t very successful. Buddy and Steve learn a lesson in the end and what it means to be good neighbors,” according to imdb.
DIY: Christmas Tree Mason Jar Votives
Supplies:
- Mason jars
- Red or green chalky paint
- Painter’s tape
- Christmas Tree Stencil
- Scissors
- Paint Brush
- Epsom Salt
- White Jingle Bells
- Baker’s Twine
Steps:
- Print out Christmas tree stencil and cut it out from a sheet of painter’s tape.
- Center the tree sticker on the jar, and paint the whole jar either red or green.
- When dry, remove the sticker.
- Fill the jar half full with epson salt and place a tea light candle inside so it is visible through the window.
- To decorate, tie the bells to the ends of the baker’s twine and wrap around the lip of the votive.
